Ford manufactures automobiles under its own name and as Lincoln in the USA. In 1958, Ford introduced a new brand, the Edsel, but very poor sales led to its demise in 1960. In 1985, the Merkur brand was first introduced to market Fords from Europe in the US. It met with a similar fate in 1989. Mercury was also introduced by Ford in 1939 but poor sales also caused its discontinuation in 2010
