Bob Dylan is an American singer-songwriter, author, and visual artist who has been an influential figure in popular music and culture for more than five decades. Dylan's career began in the early 1960s when he emerged as one of the most influential songwriters of the era, writing songs that addressed social and political issues. He has released over 50 albums, won 11 Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
Dylan's early work was heavily influenced by folk music, and he released his debut album, Bob Dylan, in 1962. The album featured the hit singles "Blowin' in the Wind" and "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall". Dylan's second album, The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, was released in 1963 and featured the hit singles "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" and "Masters of War".
Dylan's third album, The Times They Are A-Changin', was released in 1964 and featured the hit singles "The Times They Are A-Changin'" and "It Ain't Me Babe". Dylan's fourth album, Bringing It All Back Home, was released in 1965 and featured the hit singles "Subterranean Homesick Blues" and "Like a Rolling Stone". Dylan's fifth album, Highway 61 Revisited, was released in 1965 and featured the hit singles "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Tombstone Blues".
Dylan's sixth album, Blonde on Blonde, was released in 1966 and featured the hit singles "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" and "Just Like a Woman". Dylan's seventh album, John Wesley Harding, was released in 1967 and featured the hit singles "All Along the Watchtower" and "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight". Dylan's eighth album, Nashville Skyline, was released in 1969 and featured the hit singles "Lay Lady Lay" and "Tonight I'll Be Staying Here with You".
Dylan's ninth album, Self Portrait, was released in 1970 and featured the hit singles "All the Tired Horses" and "Copper Kettle". Dylan's tenth album, New Morning, was released in 1970 and featured the hit singles "If Not for You" and "Time Passes Slowly". Dylan's eleventh album, Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, was released in 1973 and featured the hit single "Knockin' on Heaven's Door".
Bob Dylan has continued to tour and record over the years, releasing his most recent album, Rough and Rowdy Ways, in 2020
